Study on the Gospel of John

Following are the resources I am using in preparing for class each week:

• The ESV Study Bible
• St. Andrews Expositional Commentary: John by R.C. Sproul
• Encountering John by Andreas J. Kostenberger
• The Gospel of John, by J.C. Ryle
• The MacArthur New Testament Commentary, John 1-11, John MacArthur

The Sproul commentary is my primary resource. Kostenberger's book sometimes provides supplementary information, and the Ryle book takes more of a devotional commentary approach. (I do love reading Ryle!) I use the MacArthur commentary when I am away from my study (it is on my iPad) or when I need additional material for preparation.

I am no longer writing study guides. However, I do use the dry erase board extensively in class, so note taking is easy. I present the material as a lecture, but questions and discussion are encouraged and often contribute significantly to the substance of the lesson.

As of June 24, 2012, we were in John chapter eleven.
